Luna Park replaced Manhattan Beach Amusement Park after it burnt down. The main attractions at Luna Park were a wooden rollercoaster named The Circle Dip and the Frolic Steamboat. This 500-passenger steamboat got its name from a children's naming competition sponsored by Rocky Mountain News and Denver Times. After riding the rollercoaster or dancing on the Frolic's dancefloor, visitors could ride the ferris wheel, watch a baseball game or marvel at contortionists. Despite its initial popularity, Luna Park couldn't compete with the nearby Lakeside Amusement Park and Elitch Gardens. Luna Park shut its gates in 1914.
